Recently, a city legend crossed my mind about how high-ranking judges in England used to not receive salaries, instead having open checks from the Ministry of Justice stamped by the British Royal Government. Of course, my research concluded that British high judges indeed received regular salaries. However, the event that initiated this legend in our country dates back to the 1967 European Lawyers Congress organized by the Istanbul Bar Association, where the head of the British delegation, the President of the London Bar Association, shared a story in his presentation.
